Katie + David
How did you and David meet?
David and I are both Chefs. We met at the restaurant we both worked at. I was already working there, and the first day he started, he came up to me and introduced himself and we couldn’t stop talking from then on! It was love at first sight for both of us!
How did David propose?
It was on our 3rd year dating anniversary, which is also the date we got married on our 5th year anniversary, so it’s a special day for us! David had told me that morning to be ready to go for a special surprise for our anniversary. On past anniversaries, we have always done something special so I didn’t think anything was going on besides celebrating our special day. All morning on the way there I kept trying to guess where we were going but he wouldn’t cave in and tell me! So finally we get down to Miami, to a beautiful place called Vizcaya. We both had never been, but David is known for doing extensive research and he couldn’t have picked a better place! We spent the morning walking in the most beautiful gardens and then we made our way down to a spot that over looks Biscayne Bay. I was so happy to be celebrating our anniversary in such a beautiful place, but then to my complete surprise, David gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him! It was the most magical day!
What was the one moment on your wedding day that is most memorable?
The most memorable moment was when I was walking down the aisle, seeing everyone filled with such happiness and seeing David’s face filled with so much love!
Did you have something borrowed, something blue, and something new?
Something borrowed/old: Jessica, one of my bridesmaids, let me borrow her Grandmothers handkerchief that she used for her something borrowed for her wedding too.
Something new: Was my wedding dress.
Something blue: My sister and maid of honor Jessica, got me the most gorgeous handmade garter that had beautiful blue flowers!
What details or traditions did you include on your wedding day?
Since David and I are both Chefs and we met in the kitchen, we wanted to incorporate some cute kitchen details in our wedding. We had a whisk and spatula for a special detail picture as well as cute little “whisked away” whisk favors for all our guests.
What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?
There were so many details for the wedding I discovered on the way.
Mostly, I would say to take the time to plan early. Once the wedding day gets there it goes by so quickly, so take time to enjoy the process. Another helpful hint that many people offered us, take the time to eat your meals! You spend so much time picking out the perfect caterer (I know we did!), so enjoy that scrumptious food too!
