How did you and Daniel meet? We were set up by one of my moms close friends. She met Dan’s mom playing cards one night. As soon as she heard that Dan’s mom had a single son she said she knew she had the perfect girl for him. Dan sent me a friend request on Facebook. A couple of months later he came to Florida to visit and we had our first date. He was living in DC at the time and I was in Florida.
How did Dan propose? On August 30th 2014, I thought we were going to meet my best friend Jaclyn at the national mall to see the monuments. She was visiting her brother in Maryland for the weekend. Instead, Dan had a photographer set up at the reflecting pool at the Washington monument. That is where Dan proposed. He also flew our families in for the weekend to celebrate with us.
Who was your adorable 4 legged guest? Our four legged guest was our English bulldog Fiona. We got her together when she was a puppy. She is the love of our lives.
Tell us the story about the pearls you wore on your wedding day? The pearl necklace was given to me by Dan’s mom. They belonged to his grandma who passed in the spring of 2014. I always knew that I would one day wear them at my wedding.
What advice would you give others planning their wedding? For other couples planning their wedding, I would tell them to keep a checklist of things that they need to do. Don’t wait until the last minute to do anything. Communicate with your partner about what you want your wedding to be like. Don’t be afraid to ask anyone for help.
What was your most memorable moment? Our most memorable moment was the amazing engagement that Dan planned and also starting our life together in Virginia.
