Jessica + Ryan
How did you both meet? We met through friends almost 12 years ago. From there, we didn’t see each other for 7 or 8 years. We ran into each other in town eventually and started talking. Ryan was always chasing Jessica, it just took some time to fall into place. We officially started dating in 2013.
How did Ryan propose? We went to brunch in Pittsburgh at a restaurant we’d been trying to get into for over 2 years. After that, we walked out through Point State Park and Ryan proposed in front of the giant fountain where the famous 3 rivers meet. This is a spot where we’ve kayaked and had many dates over the years. There was an old friend there taking pictures of the entire thing without Jessica knowing. We got engaged three years to the day of our first date.
What inspired your vision for your wedding day? We wanted to create an atmosphere unique to the friends and family of ours considering where we live. We had vacationed to the area and fell in love with the scenery. The whole thing was a little nostalgic to us because not long before, we were in West Palm Beach for a concert and were so in love, but not engaged. So, we felt like it was the best place to bring everything and everyone all together.
What advice would you give other couples planning a destination wedding. Trust your vendors! It’s so hard to feel comfortable putting the pieces together from out of town, but doing your due diligence and research is extremely important. We found the best of the bunch and could not have been more pleased. Everything worked out so perfectly that we cannot think of anything we would do differently.
