Katelyn + JC’s | Wedding at The Addison in Boca Raton

Katelyn + JC

How did you and JC meet?  JC and I actually met in the fall of 2005 while attending Pace University. I was a freshmen on the soccer team and he was a senior and captain of the baseball team. Two weeks into dating JC told me that he was going to marry me. We moved to Florida 4 years ago to start a life together.

How did JC propose? JC proposed to me on a beach in Hollywood Florida in July of 2012. At the time I was 7 months pregnant with our son. We had decided to take a last minute ‘baby moon’ to the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood area. He completely surprised me because for the most part I had planned the trip, one night he asked to go for a walk at sunset on the beach and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was incredibly romantic! To top it off there were people on their hotel balconies cheering as I said yes!

Tell us about the cute sneakers? The sneakers were a part of my gift to JC on our wedding. Both of us are fitness lovers and work out together. JC loves sneakers so I knew a new pair on the day of the wedding would be the perfect gift. Of course I needed a matching pair :). I was able to find the “I Do” and “She’s mine” stickers that just topped it off for our special day. JC is still talking about how they were the perfect gift and he was excited to put them on halfway through the night, they made for perfect dancing shoes too!

Your sign-in board was very unique. What is the story behind it? For our sign in board I wanted something a little different. Rustic, wooden, and a touch of our wedding colors…it ended up being perfect. I wanted something that we could hang in our home, and eventually swap out the photos with wedding day photos. It will be a great reminder of our wedding day and a special keepsake.

What was the inspiration behind the JC’s boutonnière? JC’s boutonniere were made from actual rounds that he had used at the gun range. I wanted to incorporate law enforcement and his job in a few subtle ways so we made the groomsmen’s boutonnieres from spent ammunition . The ring bearers actually had Sheriff badges to incorporate them as well.

Your ring bearer was adorable! Please tell us about Mason. Mason James is our adorable 2 year old son! Our day would not have been complete without having him be such a huge part of it. For such a small person he has a huge personality and great look on life already. He is always making people laugh and is super sweet. The weeks leading up to the wedding we kept telling him Mommy and Daddy were having a ‘party’. He was very excited to go and still asks if we can ‘do the party again’. I was nervous he was not going to want to leave my side or wouldn’t walk down the aisle but he did great! He definitely had a great time dancing the night away!

What was the inspiration for your wedding? The inspiration for our wedding was a romantic color palette of the aqua blue complimented by blush and coral pink. We wanted the wedding to be romantic, vintage with a pop of bling. I made a lot of the small details myself…the seating chart, sign in board, table numbers, and favors to add detail to our theme. The atmosphere at the Addison was the perfect setting for our wedding. It was absolutely gorgeous and pulled our whole wedding together.

What advice would you give others planning their wedding?  I think when planning a wedding it can be completely overwhelming. A lot of people have ideas and opinions, but at the end of the day it is YOUR day. Add the things that are important to you. JC wanted steak and a great DJ. I wanted an amazing photographer and Italian ice at the end of the evening. At the end of it your guests will talk about the venue, the food, and the party (which the DJ totally makes). We used Michael from Sarz entertainment who had us dancing all night long. I wanted to make sure we could look back at beautiful images and remember how special it was. We are so happy that we got to work with Stacey and Brandon they are just fantastic! Planning can be super stressful but time management is key so things don’t sneak up on you, give yourself plenty of time to plan and stick to a timeline. That was major for me not getting stressed out at the end. Lastly, have fun with it! You only get to do it once, we had such a great time and so did our guests, we wish we could do it again!
