Elizabeth + Todd
How did you and Todd meet? We met online. I’m a Wisconsin girl and Todd had a Green Bay packer’s screen name. Todd and I finally met in person after about a month. Since he was in Chicago and I was going to school in Minneapolish/St Paul, we had many many online dates playing games (lots of Scrabble) and listening to Buffett concerts.
How did Todd propose? After dating for 8 years, I was expecting a proposal with every romantic or semi romantic moment we had. I was not expecting it on his birthday. At this point, I really didn’t care what the ring looked like so he grabbed a few from my jewelry box to pick from. Option 1 fit my thumb. Option 2 “it fits so I guess…” Then he showed me my ring and asked “how about this one.” He custom designed it and I absolutely love it.
Why did you choose to get married in the Keys? We love the water and the beach. Todd has always been a Parrot head, now I am too. I had never been to the Keys but Todd was certain it would be perfect for us. After our trip down to check out resorts and vendors, I was in love too! The laid back, focused on fun atmosphere is totally us.
What was your most memorable moment on your wedding day? Hmm. That’s a tough one since there are so many to choose from. We both agree our first look is at the top of the list so let’s go with that one. Todd had no clue I was going to wear a bikini and sarong. Now when I do my hair in a fishtail he is all smiles and calls it wedding hair.
What advice would you give other couples planning a destination wedding? 1. Ask your vendors for recommendations. I found the salon for my hair through the florist and the florist through the resort. Having their recommendations and experience took away a lot of the stress of picking vendors.
2. If there’s a chance you might need it, pack it. Scissors, extra guest bags, a second pair of flip flops, having the “might need it” stuff saved us a few times! And an umbrella. Please pack an umbrella.
