Irina + Richard’s | Boca Raton Wedding

Irina + Richard

How did you and Richard meet?

We met at our mutual friend’s wedding about 7 years ago, but it wasn’t until years later that we started dating.  For us, it was all about timing.  We had to grow up before we could “grow together”.

How did Richard propose?

It was a totally low key surprise 2 days after our big move to Florida.  I was getting ready for bed, and when i walked into our bedroom, there was a huge Cheshire grin on my (then) boyfriend’s face, and a mahogany box on my pillow.  It was perfect, and so us.

Tell us about your wedding date?

This is the truth: I never liked New Years Eve.  There’s so much pressure!  Everyone’s always looking for somewhere to go, and everything is WAY over the top expensive.  So I decided that since this year most people had New Year’s week off, it would be perfect to travel that week for our wedding, and we’d be able to throw everyone a NYE party to boot.   On a personal note, I took a day that I did not like so much, and flipped it to be full of meaning and heart.  This way, no matter what we did on NYE, it would be special 🙂

What inspired your vision for your wedding?

We wanted to channel “old Hollywood glamour” for our wedding…  Uncomplicated, timeless elegance, with champagne and a little bling!

What was the one moment on your wedding day that is most memorable?

For Richard, it was the “first look”, the moment he saw me in my wedding dress.  For me, it was the walk down the isle toward my future hubby, led by my parents.  For both of us, these moments were the “this is it!”s.

Tell us about your wedding gown?

I wanted to blend tradition with a little sass… I stumbled on this dress and fell in love!  Classic clean lines, pure white, but had this hidden leg slit and an open back.  It’s “old school glamour”, but with a touch of sexy spark… it made me feel like a star!

What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?

Decide what’s really important to you as a couple, what you will not compromise on (like the look of your attire, the wedding date, location…  or whatever’s the most important and carries meaning for YOU).  For everything else, be flexible and ready to compromise with your families…
