Nicole + Mike’s Addison Wedding

Nicole + Mike

What was the one moment on your wedding day that is most memorable?

Having my grandparents especially my grandmother who just passed away there. The fact that she was able to walk down the aisle made me happier than anything else. We loved having our families there – Mike’s nieces and nephews being there meant the world to him.

Did you have something borrowed, something blue, and something new?

Yes! I borrowed my best friend Ali’s veil (it was stunning!), new was my dress and shoes, old was my grandmother’s pearls from Hong Kong that I wore, and there were blue hearts on my underwear 🙂

Tell us about your wedding gown? I remember you telling me a touching story about your dress.

My wedding gown was bought at a sample sale – Brides for Breast Cancer. It was the first one I tried on and it fit perfectly. I lost my aunt and now my grandmother to breast cancer – so the fact that all of the proceeds went to breast cancer research was perfect. It was simple, ivory, with lots of ruching and I just loved it. I am actually going to donate it back to the same charity so someone else has the opportunity to wear it.

What details or traditions did you include on your wedding day?

We did a first look which was amazing because we didn’t see each other or talk to each other on the day of the wedding. That was hard! I also got married using my father’s wedding ring. He passed away 9 years ago so it was important to have him as part of my special day. We also used a Kiddish cup that my friends gave us during the ceremony with the Rabbi and toasted with champagne glasses from one of mike’s friends.

What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?

Just give yourself a lot of time to plan – we didn’t rush it and were able to really enjoy being engaged and the time together. Also having family and friends that can help out as it gets closer makes you less likely to freak out. The more great people you surround yourself with (like at the Addison and with all of our vendors) the easier it all is and then you can just enjoy the night – which is just amazing.
