Lauren + Miles Disney Grand Floridian Wedding

Lauren + Miles

How did you and Miles meet and become engaged? For simplicity’s sake, you can read about our story here: http://weduary.com/laurenlovesmiles/story

Why did you choose to get married at the Grand Floridian in Disney? The castle was too expensive! I say that jokingly, but we always knew that we wanted to get married at “The Most Magical Place on Earth” — our favourite place — Walt Disney World. Seriously, we were planning our wedding at Disney before Miles had even popped the question, and when we later realized that it was financially possible for us to have our wedding at Disney, we were elated! While the castle was indeed too expensive, we loved our venue choices at the Grand Floridian. The Wedding Pavilion was breathtaking and had that picture perfect view of the Magic Kingdom, and the Whitehall Room & Patio was lovely, secluded, and the perfect size for our reception. Our planners were wonderful and the level of service provided by Disney would have been difficult to match at other comparably-priced venues. In short, we have not a single regret!

What was your inspiration for your wedding? We chose a romantic fairy tale theme with colors of silver, white, and lilac. Happily, our venues were so picturesque and lovely, we had to do very little to incorporate our theme. Our floral was primarily baby’s breath — I love how fluffy and whimsical it looks! — roses, and peonies. We did include some subtle Disney references in our table cards and other decorations.

What was your most memorable moment on your wedding day? Honestly, it was all such a blur — even now, weeks later, I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that we are married! Ultimately I think I’ll have many moments from our wedding that stand out to me, as opposed to one single moment. The “first look” was beautiful and amazing, as well as the few moments after the ceremony where Miles and I were afforded a private moment behind the Wedding Pavilion. Dancing with Mickey and celebrating my grandparents’ 60th anniversary. Riding the monorail (through the rain!) to our dessert party and seeing a rainbow and clear skies above Epcot. All of Epcot applauding as we “paraded” to our dessert party location in the United Kingdom. And of course, hitting up the Grand Floridian pool with our entire bridal party at the end of the night!

Tell us about your wedding gown? My wedding gown was from the White by Vera Wang collection. I hadn’t intended to buy a silver gown, but I absolutely fell in love as soon as I tried it on!

What advice do you have for couples planning a wedding? If you love Disney and are looking for a venue for your own wedding or vow renewal, please don’t discount Disney Fairy Tale Weddings as “too expensive!” They have fully-customizable packages at a variety of price points, and our own wedding is proof that it is possible to have a beautiful, well-appointed wedding at Walt Disney World for just over $10K. Weeks later, our family and friends are still talking about how much they loved our wedding, in particular our choice to end our wedding day with a private dessert party at Epcot. In short, I can’t recommend Disney Fairy Tale Weddings enough!
