How did we meet?
This is quite a funny story. 8 years ago I was at practice for a dance team I was on. In the middle of practice James walked in as a new addition to the team and stood right behind me. When the captain of the team asked him to come up front with them he replied “nope the view is better from back here”. Through out the next 2 years we were both in other relationships but became really close friends. When those relationships ended, he finally asked me out on our first date. Even though I was really sick with the flu all he kept saying that night was how beautiful I was. I knew he was a keeper!
How did he propose?
We were visiting my family in Andover, MA for Thanksgiving. Wednesday just seemed like another ordinary day, but the whole family had a plan; James was going to propose that night. For the whole family to pull this off without me knowing was going to be a challenge. In the morning my cousin, Carly, asked if I wanted to get my nails done with her. While we were getting our nails done, James stayed back with the rest of the family, preparing the “proposal set” for later that evening. Everyone got dressed and went out for drinks and dinner. When dinner was almost over, My Uncle sent James and my cousins, Max and Maggie, to the “store” to grab beer for tomorrow. They really went back to the house to set everything up. In an effort to stall leaving, everyone took turns 1 by 1 going to the bathroom and then proceeding to take photos at the table. Finally it was time to leave and head back home, only to have my Uncle drive 10 mph the whole way! I was a little confused at the turn of events from dinner to the car ride, but just went along with it all. When we got back to the house, my cousin, Carly, dragged me out of the garage, through the side door of the house and up the stairs to the 2nd floor. I heard James calling for me to come to the other side of the house, and when I followed his voice, there he was standing in front of candles laid out in “Will You Marry Me”!
What do you envision for your wedding day?
James and I have been together for over 6 years now, and with everything we have gone through in those 6 years makes this day is very important to us. It’s going to be a big celebration with family and friends. My family is a little wild and crazy so it will definitely be a fun party. Our theme is Elegant Romance. Lots of neutrals, whites, pale pinks and of course crystals!
