Gita + Nick
How did you both meet?
Nick and I met during our Junior year at Purdue University, through mutual friends. We were actually friends for 8 or so months before we started dating. Nick was there one night when I really needed a friend and that started the beginning of our relationship! It turned into love pretty quickly and we thought, “we should have been dating this whole time!”
How did Nick propose?
6 years later, including adopting our favorite kitty Buddha and moving to a new city together, Nick proposed on a stormy Friday evening. I had just walked in from work, rain coat and all, and there he was in the kitchen, still in his hospital scrubs as he had just beat me home from work, kneeling down. He popped open the box and asked me to marry him. It was simple and perfect!
What was your inspiration your vision for wedding?
The inspiration for our wedding came from my Indian heritage and growing up in South Florida. I wanted a bright, vibrant room filled with warm colors and sunlight. The Sonesta was the perfect venue to showcase the beautiful ocean views. To capture my Indian roots, I envisioned gold lanterns, bright florals, and elephants and peacock feathers. Overall, we wanted a warm, bright atmosphere to share this incredible experience with our family and friends.
What was your most memorable moment on your wedding day?
For me, the most memorable moment was when Nick read his vows, they were so poetic and beautiful.
For Nick, it was seeing me walk down the aisle and then getting to kiss the bride and walk back down together as husband and wife.
