Wedding at Wanderers Club in Wellington

Erica + Matthew

How did you and Matthew meet? Matt and I lived and worked within about a half mile of each other for years before we finally crossed paths!
Luckily, we had all of the same favorite hangouts. We had been attending the same monthly food truck festival in Abacoa for years and kept missing one another. Finally, one fateful food truck night, we were introduced by a friend of mine whose husband worked with Matt. We celebrate the anniversary of our meeting every year at the June food truck night, it’s a delicious tradition!
How did he propose? Matt’s proposal plan was actually a plan B. Tropical Storm Erika came through South Florida and the romantic sunset tour of the Jupiter Lighthouse he had planned was cancelled. He ended up recreating the date when we both realized that our relationship was something special. He packed up a beach picnic to watch the supermoon rise over the ocean. He even played the same music (he saved the playlist)! The storm clouds parted for just long enough for the moon to shine down and for Matt to get down on one knee. It was just perfect.

What was your inspiration for your wedding? We often say “we’re not fancy people”. We wanted to have a relaxed, rustic and classic outdoor affair. Unfortunately, Hurricane Matthew had some other plans for us. We ended up having to change up our original plans for an open air ceremony on the polo fields and tented reception for a covered veranda ceremony and ballroom reception, two days before the wedding. Luckily, we had an amazing team to work with! Our wedding turned out beautiful, just a little different than the original plan.

What was your most memorable moment on your wedding day? The most memorable moment of the wedding was definitely our first look. The week before the wedding was incredibly hectic and chaotic. We didn’t know if family would be able to get in, if we had an officiant, food or a venue! Everything felt unsettled until Stacey pulled me out of the fray to meet Matt. As soon as I saw him, I knew that everything was going to be exactly as it was supposed to be. He is my rock in every storm, even his namesake. It was an intimate moment for us both to share before becoming man and wife.
