Courtney + Ken
How did you and Ken meet? We met at Starbucks! I managed a store in Palm Beach Gardens and Ken was a customer.
How did he propose? Ken took me to the top of the Jupiter Lighthouse because I had never been. As we were looking out at the ocean, he said “you know in An Affair to Remember how they meet at the top of the Empire State Building because it’s the closest thing to Heaven? Well in Jupiter, the lighthouse is the closest thing to Heaven so I wanted to bring you here to do this”I turned around and he was on his knee holding a beautiful ring!
Why did you choose the Borland Center for your ceremony & reception? We are church members at Family Church Gardens, so getting married there was our first and only choice. It was just wonderful that we were able to hold the reception there too.
Your wedding ring was beautiful, what is the story behind your diamond? Thank you! I knew I wanted something different. Ken did some research and learned that blue topaz is the state gemstone of Texas, my home state. He had the ring made for me.
What was your inspiration for your wedding? From the beginning, we wanted something simple, classic, and meaningful. We wanted a great party with our closest friends and family.
What advice would you give other couples planning their wedding? Hire a wedding planner. It’s the biggest event of your life – too much for one person to manage!Second, don’t compromise. It’s your day, you only do it once, and you don’t want to regret anything. Go with your instincts and it will be perfect!
